Together We Can

F1 In Schools Jaguar Challenge 2014

The F1 Challenge takes place regionally, national and internationally every year. It hopes to change the perceptions of science, technology and engineering by creating a fun and exciting learning environment for young people to develop their skills in those areas.

Two teams from Wainstalls will initially take part in a three month training process at school. Then, using new software and technology, they will design, build and promote their miniature Formula 1 car. The car itself will be made from card and cut out on a specialist piece of equipment - Cameo Cutter - that has been purchased by the school.

The teams will then attend the Regional Final - this year to be held at Whitehill Academy in March - to compete against teams from several other schools.

This was the car designed by Team Futuristics...

Futuristics finished 4th in the Verbal Presentation and won one of their races. They were also one of the only teams to complete an additional challenge with no help from an adult... which must be comended!

Well done team!!

...and here is Turboz entry into the 2014 event.

Turboz didn't win any races but actually had a very fast car overall. They, like Futuristics, were one of the only teams to present work done wholly by themselves and represented the school fantastically.

Great job Turboz!!
