Former Pupils

Hannah Cockroft MBE

Hannah Cockcroft is the reigning World, European and Paralympics Champion, winning three gold medals in both the 100m and 200m in the 20011 and 2013 World Championships, two gold medals in the London 2012 Paralympics and in 2014 won two further golds in the IPC European Championships over 100m and 800m. The seven-time Paralympic, 11-time Worlds and three-time European champion secured the one title that was missing from her collection: the Commonwealth Games, which she won on the first day of the track and field competition at Birmingham 2022 on 2 August.
Hannah started her school days here at Wainstalls and we were delighted when she took time out of her busy schedule training for the Commonwealth Games in 2022, to spend a special morning with us all at school when we officially opened our fantastic new MUGA.
We are all very proud of Hannah and her amazing achievements and our pupils aspire to become as successful as her one day. Hannah is currently the T34 World Record holder in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m.

Charlie Needler

Congratulations to Charlie Needler, a former pupil, who was chosen to play for the England Under 18 Cerebral Palsy Football Team. He played in a home nations tournament at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire.

Other notable achievements!

Jacob Normanton

Hi Mrs Waugh,

I thought you might appreciate hearing about one of your recent students absolutely smashing it at Trinity.

During the 'Masters of recall' test, Jacob had to answer 100 questions across all subjects and he got 93. Then that got him to the top of his college.  The top of each college then competed against each other with 9 questions. Who ever got the most right in the quickest time won!

We owe a lot to the amazing teaching and helping Jacob to be the all round person that he is today.  We are so proud of Jacob.
