At Wainstalls we are ahead of the game when it comes to ICT. We've already spent many hours in the classroom 3D Modelling, programming and making animations. Furthermore, our recent subscriptions to Purple Mash and Espresso Coding will ensure that all our children will meet (or indeed exceed) national guidelines when it comes to ICT learning and experiences.
We also invest heavily in ICT hardware - our new ICT suite is fully equipped with 32 Lenovo laptops computers - creating a learning environment where each child has their own computer during ICT lessons. We also have new printing and CAD technology for designing things and creating models. Having new computers also means that our collection of Lenovo All-In-One desktop computers have been distributed to the other classrooms in order to promote additional learning using technology.
Coding is now of huge importance in Primary schools and, using Mr Riddlesden's 20 years of experience in this area, our children build algorithms with loops, variables and sequences using a wide range of programming resources. Currently, in school we utilise Scratch, Kodu, Espresso Coding and even the Purple Mash 2code facility. All these resources can also be used at home, either by free download or clicking the links in the Student Portal (click here). If you need help using these links, please contact Mr Riddlesden.
Check out our page on Espresso Coding where the children have coded basic instructions to make objects move around the screen and, for some children in KS2, interact. They've also learned how to publish their work online! Simply the link below and have a look for your child's work. If you can find them, simply click the word\title on the left to view their creation. Ask your child what they were trying to achieve with their code and how they could improve it.
