Together We Can

Day 2

Thursday started with a HUGE breakfast! Cereal, Full English, toast with scrambled eggs and fruit for those that had room. Looking around the room, it's also a surprise to see everyone looking reasonably fresh... Everyone had a descent sleep with no incidents to speak of thankfully.

The Woodpeckers then set off for the quad bikes. Anthony and Brodie set the pace with some assured driving before Dylan, Callum, Maddy and Phoebe showed off their skills. Cameron then amazed us all with a lightening first lap including drifting (a technical term) and a spectacular crash before Alice trundled round at her own steady pace!

Cameron's tip of the day is "Don't go really fast 'cos you'll crash!"

"I didn't crash but if you did, you had to rebuild the tyre wall yourself like Alice and Cameron did" said Anthony.

Fencing was next, with Maddy, Phoebe, Anthony, Alice & Cameron doing their team proud with some amazing foil skills.

Team Xenops are Noah, Libby, Daniel, Jake, Billy, Abigail, Joshua & Harvey. They started the mornings events with some Fencing and then switched over to Quad Biking after.

Noah commented that the fencing was "very sweaty but lots of fun".

In the afternoon both teams took part in The Giant Swing & Trapeze. The Giant Swing involved two members of the team being lifted 7 or 8 metres into the air (using ropes) by the rest of the team. They then hurtled to ground, swinging away at the last minute!

"The trapeze was so wobbly and very high but I got to the top" said Phoebe.

Of The Giant Swing Maddy said "It was really scary when you had to pull the chord to release yourself and drop down".

"The Giant Swing was, by far, my favourite thing today, it was really high and great fun!"

After tea we went to a campfire where we sang songs and listened to the group leaders tell stories.
